About Us

The Buena HS Music Department

The Buena High School Music program dates back to the fall of 1961 when Buena first opened its doors for students. Since that time, the band program has been led by Seven Band Directors with enrollment as high as 180 musicians.

Students participating in the Buena Music Department have opportunities to perform in many high caliber ensembles including Chamber Winds, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, numerous brass and woodwind chamber ensembles, String Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Concert Choir, Belle Voce-an  acapella women's ensemble, Winter Marching Percussion Ensemble, Concert Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, and the illustrious Buena High School Marching Band.

The Buena High School Music program has a reputation for excellence that is becoming known around the world. Our groups have traveled through 10 of the United States, as well as Canada and Mexico. In 2002, Buena represented the United States at the XIV International Festival of Festive Music in Castellón, Spain. Buena is the first high school in the world to be so honored. For April, 2005, Buena has been invited to represent the US at the International Festival of Folk Music in Rome, Italy.

Buena High School is located in the city of Ventura on California's Gold Coast.  We are a 4 year comprehensive high school with a little over 2200 students in daily attendance.

Our Director is Mr. Sean Salehi

Our students are also active in extra-curricular music opportunities including, but not limited to, the New West Symphony, Ventura County Honors Band, CMEA Honors Band, SCVA Honors Choir, Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, the Ventura College Master Chorale, and many others.
